"If you can dream it, you can achieve it."
- Zig Zigler
Through her various adventures, Sierra Findley has observed how women are often held back from experiencing the great outdoors due to feelings of insecurity or inadequacy. Additionally, as a nurse, Sierra has also dedicated her career to working with families who have children with various medical challenges. Through this work, she came to realize the need of support for these families to gain the confidence and skills necessary to get out and explore nature with their children. It was evident that there was a pressing need for greater diversity and accessibility, not only for women but also for the disadvantaged and minority groups as a whole. We need to help these groups feel confident in our trail systems.
While summiting Mount Lassen with her husband in 2018, Haleigh Van Allen read a sign that led to an ever-growing concern for our trail systems and the lack of conservational awareness. The sign informed hikers of “trail scars” and the importance of staying on the trail to preserve our natural world. She began to dream of a business that would inspire others to care for our trail systems and their surrounding ecosystems.
Combining the two dreams, Sierra and Haleigh worked together to build Squeaky Boots LLC.
